Adaptis Solutions, a U.K.-based provider of automated parking payment technologies, has been acquired by payment services provider PayPoint.
U.K.-based PayPoint owns PayByPhone, which provides mobile phone-based parking payments in the U.K., North America and France. The acquisition of Adaptis is a natural fit for PayByPhone, PayPoint said in a statement.
Adaptis provides an integrated parking payment system which operates over multiple channels including the Web, interactive voice response and mobile devices. Its system includes electronic parking permits, automatic number plate-recognition systems for car parks and penalty charge notices, cashless payments, a data analytics suite and bay sensor technology.
In both the Adaptis and PayByPhone solutions, customers purchase parking through a payment card that they have previously registered with the system provider.
"PayByPhone will benefit from the additional capabilities and client relationships brought by Adaptis and its management team," Dan Salmons, PayPoint's managing director of electronic and mobile commerce, said in a statement.
Adaptis will expand PayByPhone's range of products into off-street locations, fines and permits, and improve its ability to bid for bundled contracts, PayPoint said.
On March 20, PayByPhone announced that it had won a contract with VINCI Park to provide automated cashless parking for 155,000 parking spaces in Paris, France. "The Paris contract is the largest in the world by number of spaces," Salmons said.
