Patients, providers interacting through kiosks and online channels
September 23, 2010
As more healthcare providers offer patients electronic health records, patients are proactively using electronic tools such as Microsoft HealthVault and Google Health to gather and store their personal medical information, writes Marianne McGee inInformationWeek.
This is making it easier for healthcare providers to allow patients to access both financial information and clinical information via portals. That translates into patients paying bills online or checking in through a kiosk when arriving at a facility for care.
McGee reports that Adventist Health and Tenet Health have deployed NCR Corp.'s MediKiosk patient portal for self-service capabilities such as paying bills.
