When Philadelphia's parking kiosks started malfunctioning last week, rumors swirled the malfunctioning was because of the dropping temperatures in the City of Brotherly Love.
But the problem — which saw the machines that have replaced parking meters on dozens of streets in downtown Philadelphia rejecting valid SmartCards and credit cards — was actually due to a glitch caused by a recent software upgrade, according to a story in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
