Parking kiosks malfunctioning in Philadelphia

December 30, 2009

When Philadelphia's parking kiosks started malfunctioning last week, rumors swirled the malfunctioning was because of the dropping temperatures in the City of Brotherly Love.

But the problem — which saw the machines that have replaced parking meters on dozens of streets in downtown Philadelphia rejecting valid SmartCards and credit cards — was actually due to a glitch caused by a recent software upgrade, according to a story in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
