Document shredding gets taken out of the home and in to retail locations with the Washington-based Shred Stop kiosk. The self-serve, industrial-strength paper shredder will now be available to Safeway shoppers in the Seattle area.
Likened to a Coinstar for document shredding, the Shred Stop can go through 50-sheets of paper at a time and a file-box of material in around five minutes, a company announcement said. Other media, such as CDs and floppy disks, can be put through the Shred Stop as well.
"People need a safe and convenient way to shred their files," says Stephen Hershman, president of Shred Stop. "Even the best home shredder simply can't be made well enough at that price point, leading to a lot of wasted time and frustration. So developing an easy-to-use kiosk with an industrial shredder makes a lot of sense."
