BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Pan-Oston, producer of the Utopia self-checkout system for retail, announced today the expansion of its plant in Bowling Green, Ky., to facilitate increased manufacturing of self-checkout and technology products. The company also will complete a renovation of a portion of the plant to consolidate all its metal and wood production into a single state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
According to a news release, the addition will house an electronic assembly area that is specially designed as a controlled "clean" environment with lighting, anti-static technology and air conditioning, as well as advanced computer-controlled machinery and environmental protection systems.
"The new building represents a significant investment by Pan-Oston and reaffirms our long-term commitment to Utopia Self-Checkout technology and retail products that include electronic technology," said Jim Vance, president of Pan-Oston.
The Utopia self-checkout system has completed more than $25 million in transactions in seven grocery chains.
