Organizations uses telehealth kiosks to help homeless vets

August 18, 2020

Let's Talk Interactive Inc., a provider of customizable telehealth services, and Soldier On, a nonprofit organization committed to ending veteran homelessness, have partnered to implement a new program that provides veterans with greater access to mental health services, according to a press release.

Soldier On's programs impact an estimated 3,200 veterans annually across four states including Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. With the addition of Let's Talk Interactive's kiosks and telehealth software, Soldier On's case managers will be able to see their clients more frequently to provide mental health services as their travel time is reduced.

Additionally, by hosting virtual sessions, case managers and their clients will not be impacted by precautions such as social distancing.

Prior to leveraging LTI's telehealth technology via iPads and custom kiosks in transitional housing, Soldier On's staff would travel long distances to their veteran patients each week, spending hours in the car traveling between rural facilities and over state lines.

By providing the telehealth piece, instead of misused time behind the wheel, mental health specialists can connect directly with multiple veterans who receive treatment "in place" — within the same day.
