OptConnect, a provider of wireless connectivity products, has launched a mini PCI express adaptor card for its patented smart embedded modem, ema, according to a press release. This new adaptor expedites a company's ability to incorporate OptConnect ema into their equipment so that they can connect that equipment to the Internet with a fully managed solution and scale without having to invest additional money on designing a new board.
"The OptConnect ema mPCIe adaptor enables companies to add smart managed cellular connectivity to any device that has a mPCIe slot with absolutely zero hardware engineering or cellular certification time, effort, or money," Steve Garrett, chief product officer at OptConnect, said in the press release.
By developing a custom mPCIe adaptor, customers can add smart managed cellular connectivity to any device that has an available mPCI slot, without the cost and delay of obtaining additional certifications or redesigning hardware. Additionally, customers will be able to enjoy plug-and-play operations with Linux, Android, Windows 7, 8, 10 and embedded environments to make for a headache-free cellular experience.
The addition of a custom mPCIe adaptor is designed for customers who want an embedded modem but are unable to modify their board design and don't want to wait to incorporate it until their next product cycle. It also solves the issue of customers wanting to test OptConnect's fully managed solutions before investing in a whole new board redesign.
