Ohio plans to spend around $100 million to install EV charging stations along its interstates over the next five years using federal funding, according to a Canton Repository report.
The state transportation department wants to place one EV station every 50 miles, each of which would be able to charge four vehicles simultaneously and cost between $600,000 to $1.2 million.
The state currently has 217 publicly available, fast, direct current chargers, of which 12 are within one mile of an interstate exit with at least four charging stations.
The state had 24,502 registered EVs as of the end of May out of a total 8.1 million registered passenger vehicles.
