Ohio park uses information kiosk to warn of river dangers

August 27, 2003

DIMPLE ROCK, Ohio -- Officials at the recreational park have installed a kiosk to teach would-be whitewater rafters that they should not take the sport lightly."

The kiosk features a video that perspective rafters can watch, offering a glimpse of real people capsizing on the rapids, said Park Superintendent Doug Hoehn in a report in the Herald Standard. The kiosk also offers other information about the Youghiogheny River.

Installation of the kiosk was one recommendation made after an inquest into three drowning deaths on the river in 2000.
