Jurors for the Summit County, Ohio common pleas court will be able to check themselves in for duty at four check-in kiosks, according to an Akron Beacon Journal report. Jurors will also be able to upload documents at the kiosk.

The county council approved $55,232 to upgrade software from Jury Systems Inc. and install free-standing kiosks.

The kiosks will increase efficiency by allowing jurors to check in at the kiosk rather than with staff, and will reduce person-to-person interaction.

The software will be upgraded from a browser-based system to a web-based system, allowing prospective jurors to upload documents to support rescheduling or excusal requests.
