Officers favor sex-offender sign-up kiosks

The Brunswick (N.D.) Tribune: Law-enforcement officers are backing a proposal to spend $1 million on a network of computerized kiosks for sex offenders to use when they register their names and addresses with local authorities. The Senate Judiciary Committee, which held a hearing on the legislation Jan. 15, recommended that the proposed bill be approved. The bill will now be reviewed by the Senate Appropriations Committee, which is expected to scrutinize its price tag.
