New York City removed its last standing payphone Monday, completing a process that began in 2015, according to a foxny.com report.
The 2-phone bank was located on 7th Avenue and 50th Street in Midtown Manhattan.
The city has replaced its payphones with LinkNYC kiosks, which run Wi-Fi hotspots and provide access to free calls within the U.S., weather and transit alerts, a social services directory and device charging.
The LinkNYC network will add 5G functionality this summer.
