The North Dakota Department of Transportation is shutting down several license renewal kiosks across the state, primarily in small towns, effective Jan. 24. The state's Department of Transportation says kiosks in larger population centers will remain in operation, while rural locations such as Bowman, Carson, Washburn, Mott and Napoleon are among those closing permanently.

Officials say the decision is driven by rising operational costs and limited usage at some locations. The closures highlight a growing concern about reduced access to convenient government services in rural areas.
