Speculation as to whether or not the next-generation iPhones would incorporate near field communication capabilities has been potent fodder for techies, but according to a report on isource.com, the likelihood is slim to none.
Recently posted photos of an iPhone highlighted the possible location of NFC technology on the back panel, yet the claim has been refuted.
Given the metal backing that covers the phone, with little space anywhere on the device that is not surrounded with metal, it is almost a certainty that NFC will not make it to the iPhone 5, according to the article.
