Parking kiosks in Hamilton, New Zealand glitched on Tuesday morning, causing the kiosks to default to settings for Los Angeles, according to a RNZ report.
A screen showing palm trees and sand greeted users, asking them if they'd like to continue in Spanish or English. This was odd to most users, as less than 1% of New Zealanders are Spanish-speaking.
"We introduced a new parking model in the city this morning, and while we planned for many scenarios, it's fair to say we didn't see this one coming," Tania Hermann, Hamilton City Council's operate and maintain unit director, told the news outlet.
The kiosks have since been updated, but since LA was the first city to use this particular type of kiosks, the system defaults to their imagery.
