Hank Gutman, New York City's transportation commissioner, last week released a plan to expand the city's electric vehicle charging network, titled "Electrifying New York: An Electric Vehicle Vision Plan for New York City," according to a silive.com report.
The plan is designed to reduce the city's greenhouse gas emissions and curb climate change.
To reach the goals, including full carbon neutrality by 2050, officials claim at least 400,000 vehicle owners need to switch to electric vehicles by 2030.
The plan calls for the installation of 40,000 public level 2 chargers and 6,000 direct current fast chargers in the city by 2030.
The city will expand its city-operated DC fast chargers by more than 80 plugs by 2025. There are now 117 fast chargers throughout the city.
