New touchscreen outlasts competition

March 27, 2002

ROUND ROCK, Texas - TouchSystems, in partnership with eTurboTouch Technology, announced the new Turbo T6, a patent-pending, 5-wire analog resistive touchscreen.

Turbo T6 has a lifespan greater than 50 million touches, nearly twice that of the closest competitor. Designed specifically for extreme and high-use environments, Turbo T6 features superior durability, resolution, accuracy, and positioning speed.

T6 adds the benefits of EMI, an electro-magnetic shield, providing improved reliability. T6 is targeted for a wide range of industries; including kiosks, point of sale, mobile warehousing, Web phones, ATMs, and industrial control.

According to Gary Barrett, TouchSystems chief technical officer, the difference in the new resistive touchscreen technology is where the `x' and 'y' coordinates are derived. An added sixth wire eliminates electrical interference and allows the screen to maintain optimal operation, even in adverse conditions.

Turbo T6 analog resistive touchscreens are available in sizes from two to 21 inches. They can be custom designed to meet non-standard specifications or configured as a drop-in replacement to standard 5-wire touchscreens.

TouchSystems, based in Round Rock, Texas, was established in 1996 by one of the original founders of touchscreen technology. It is a privately held company.

A subsidiary of the Turbo Group, founded in 1995, eTurboTouch has factories in Taiwan and Southeast Asia. eTurboTouch delivers high quality, cost-effective, proprietary solutions for user interface input devices such as touchpanel and image capture products.
