COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas-based NetNearU (NNU), a developer of management software for the public Internet market, announced the release of its NNU Runtime Engine for Wi-Fi.
Featuring the ability to eliminate access to unacceptable content or unauthorized system files, the enhanced version of its NNU Runtime Engine will offer a low-cost option for operators of local hotspots, said Larry James, chairman and CEO of NetNearU, in a company release.
A full-featured kiosk with NNU Runtime Engine, which runs on Microsoft Windows, could cost as little as $500 compared to about $5,000 for a wired unit, the release said.
The software, which interprets the interfaces created by designers, costs $100 per wireless terminal. It is free if the customer subscribes NetNearU's ADTRACKOS,an extension to the TRACKOS system giving advertisers the ability to monitor the effectiveness and reach of online advertising.
