TOKYO - A new LCD monitor unveiled by Sharp Corp. can show two different full-screen images at the same time, according to an Associated Press report. One of the images is visible to a person standing slightly to the left of the monitor's center field, a totally different one available on the right.
A few problems remain - chiefly, someone standing dead-center in front of the display will see the two images mixed together. And then there is the issue of delivering two different sound channels.
But problems aside, the display does offer some interesting possibilities to deployers of both interactive and passive digital content.
Estimated cost for the unit, which goes into production later this month, will be, appropriately, about twice that of a comparable-sized single-image display.
