New products to be showcased at CeBIT

March 12, 2002

HANNOVER, Germany - CeBIT, one of the largest technology shows in the world, opens on March 13 in Hannover, Germany, and National Semiconductor (NYSE:NSM) and Trintech Group PLC (NASDAQ:TTPA) are both using the show to unveil new products.

Among the products National Semiconductor will be showcasing is its DT Research 535 Thin Client. The company said the server can be used for several vertical markets, including point-of-sale (POS) kiosks. The small size of the DT Research 535 reduces footprints, but can still offer graphic-intensive content.

The DT Research 535 was created in partnership with DT Research. National Semiconductor will also be showing products created with partners Philips and Sigma Designs during CeBIT.

Trintech Group on March 13 debuted its new open source POS terminal architecture PayWare OpenPOS at CeBIT. The system is designed to run a variety of PIN-based card payment applications.

Trintech officials said the technology can be used to create in-store applications, including POS terminals, and unattended applications such as ATM machines and financial services kiosks.

CeBIT runs through March 20. The show features nearly 8,000 exhibitors and last year attracted nearly 850,000 visitors from more than 100 countries.
