New Jersey town to install smart parking meters

May 8, 2019

The West New York, New Jersey parking authority plans to replace the town's traditional, coin-operated parking meters with smart parking meters this spring, according to Parking Today. The new meters will allow residents to pay for parking with mobile devices via the Parkmobile app.

The authority decided to introduce smart parking after a successful test pilot program earlier this year. A social media survey indicated most participants preferred using the digital meters over traditional ones.

Motorists will be able to pay using mobile, cash or card payments, said Amiris Perez, WNYPA executive director.
