New deal to add kiosk-style functions to hotel phones

June 18, 2002

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Hospitality industry telephone provider TeleMatrix has reached an agreement with Concierge Networks Inc. to design and manufacture a line of in-room telephone kiosks for the hospitality marketplace.

Called KioPhone, the phones will include touchscreens that will offer hotel and area information, travel-related goods and services, and e-mail access. The phones will employ TeleMatrix design with Concierge Networks' Genie Concierge TM software.

Officials from the companies said the new phones would integrate traditional telephone functions with hotel information and Internet access. No information was released on when the product would be available to the market.

Based in Colorado Springs, TeleMatrix has provided phones for the hospitality, commercial, and residential markets, and has more than 4 million phones installed at 15,000 customer sites worldwide. Concerige Networks, based in Clearwater, Fla., is a communications product provider for the hospitality industry.
