IRVINE, Calif. - Visitors to some of the best-attended museums and ballparks will be able to buy tickets and get cash at an ATTM machine at the venue.
The first ATTM (Automated Ticket and Teller Machine) will be located at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, which will have two of the machines in place early this summer.
The machines will be placed at the National Aquarium and other venues by Paciolan, an Irvine, Calif.-based provider of software for automated ticketing. Paciolan signed an agreement with Value Automated Systems Ticketing Inc. (VAST) of San Diego to deploy the machines.
The ATTMs are expected to give ticket buyers a purchase point at the venue and help alleviate long lines at the box office. It enables venues to provide tickets to their customers and reduce their dependence on ticket distributors and brokers.
Paciolan has relationships with 200 organizations and 500 venues that account for more than 85 million tickets per year. Among its customers are the St. Louis Rams, San Diego Padres, Florida State University, the San Francisco Ballet and Graceland Mansion Tours.
VAST is developing the machines in conjuction with Fujitsu. The self-service machines accept credit cards, cash and make change.
