West Chester, Pa., January 29, 2004 - MEI, the world's leading developer of electronic payment systems, announced that its MEI CASHFLOW®SC bill acceptor has been chosen by Standing Stone Gaming (SSG) as a key component of its revolutionary account-based cashless gaming system. MEI's advanced bill acceptor technology combined with SSG's account-based system offers resort guests a convenient alternative to long cashier lines. The bill acceptor will be integrated into intelligent kiosks located throughout the casino and will accept cash for replenishing guest gaming accounts. The Linux-based kiosks interface with SSG's account-based system facilitating account transactions, service personalization, and cross-selling capabilities.
"MEI has been an active partner and has gone out of its way to work with us," said Chuck Angell, Director of Product Development for SSG. "We chose MEI because of their superior bill acceptor technology and reputation for strong customer service. MEI also assisted us with product recommendations to make our `wish list' a reality."
Angell also cited several additional reasons for using MEI:
· a removable head which makes the unit easy to clean and fix, eliminating the need to add additional service technicians;
· an easily removable hopper;
· dual locks for convenient cash counting;
· a Security Window that helps eliminate customer disputes by making the last bill accepted visible;
· an Escrowing feature that records all transaction details, which allows the casino to settle disputes without the security risk of opening the machine.
MEI CASHFLOW SC Series high performance bill acceptors provide advanced digital processing technology, algorithms and engineering. It delivers ultra-high bill acceptance rates, superior security, greater cost efficiency and reduced maintenance costs. Other features include a front USB service port, lensed receivers that scan 300% more bill surface with six wavelengths of light, and the industry's first dispute resolution window.
SSG is the technology arm and a wholly-owned business of the Oneida Indian Nation, which owns and operates the casino in Verona, New York. The Nation owns various Intellectual Property associated with account-based gaming systems and gaming terminal technology innovations. The Oneida Nation has been involved with cashless and coinless account-based gaming for many years and has patented its existing system. SSG has developed a state-of-the-art coinless gaming system for the nation that offers customer and management features that clearly surpass those of legacy systems and also offers the necessary infrastructure required for Internet gaming.
