The Nevada Gaming Board has broken up an embezzlement scheme involving internal information from sports betting kiosks, according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal report.

A fraud and embezzlement case was heard by a judge Thursday alleging a scheme against William Hill, a subsidiary of Caesar's Entertainment Inc., according to court documents the newspaper reviewed.

The scheme was operated by employees with access to internal information technology systems to add money to sports betting kiosks, then print and redeem fraudulent betting vouchers, according to the board.

William Hill, which operates race and sportsbooks in Nevada, self reported the potential fraud.

The two individuals named in the Las Vegas Review-Journal report had not been charged as of Friday.

Beginning in December of 2022, the board began an investigation into the fraudulent cash adjustments being made at various sports wagering kiosks across multiple licensed locations throughout Las Vegas, according to a board news release.

The licensee was able to use internal security to uncover the alleged criminal activity and report it to the board, according to the news release. Agents of the board's enforcement division uncovered thousands of fraudulent adjustments from the scheme.
