NetShift has joined forces with Affordable Kiosks to deliver interactive media terminals to US based health organisation Planned Parenthood. From January next year, 26 interactive screens will be available across the organisation's North Texas centres, offering visitors the chance to surf exclusively designed health news and information.
First established in 1916, the Planned Parenthood organisation promotes "conception by choice, not chance", to US women. With this mission in mind, for nearly a century Planned Parenthood affiliates have offered family planning medical services and birth control instruction in clinic settings and reproductive health care education programs throughout communities in the US.
The new terminals provide the most up-to-date delivery mechanism for Planned Parenthood's charter to date, reaching today's women via today's medium. But while the medium has changed over the years, the message has remained constant since the day Planned Parenthood Margaret Sanger first printed and issued leaflets to woman on the streets of Brooklyn nearly 100 years ago.
"We're improving access to valuable information for visitors to Planned Parenthood clinics", says NetShift's Bob Gallner. "In this environment, where information requirements can be sensitive, people can become self conscious and unwilling to ask questions and clear up concerns. By supplementing the personal help and advice already available from Planned Parenthood's staff and volunteers, with this new electronic interface, the clinic is opening up new information channels capable of providing anonymous assistance and information to the centre's visitors."
NetShift will be installing the new terminals in Planned Parenthood centres for the start of 2003 using Affordable Kiosks brand new Slabb 5 kiosks.
Cy Birg of Affordable Kiosks says, "Planned Parenthood is using an ultra modern approach by displaying information to their patients with a kiosk network. This deployment will help introduce the information kiosk phenomenon to more areas of the general public."
Shawntay Sparks, VP Marketing and Corporate Development at Planned Parenthood says, "With the assistance of NetShift and Affordable Kiosks, we now have the ability to not only offer clients the opportunity to query information regarding health topics confidentially but have the capability to capture patient data from surveys provided through the kiosk system allowing Planned Parenthood of North Texas to enhance and expand services based on querying responses from the client surveys."
