Netkey names chairman, lands credit union deal

February 8, 2002

BRANFORD, Conn. - Veteran software executive James Perakis has been named chairman of the board at kiosk software development company Netkey Inc., just three months after joining the company's board of directors.

The former chairman and chief executive officer of Hyperion Software, Perakis worked for the analytical and information solutions provider for 13 years, leaving the company in 1998 following a merger. He joined Netkey in late October (See story: Hyperion chief joins Netkey board).

In making the announcement on Jan. 28, Netkey chief executive officer Alex Richardson said Perakis has infused the company with his enthusiasm and new ideas.

"As a Netkey board member, Jim has quickly made an impact by sharing his advice and experience in the areas of sales, marketing and product direction," Richardson said in a news release. "We're pleased that he has agreed to take a more active role in the growth and development of Netkey."

On the same day that Perakis's appointment was disclosed, Netkey and Richardson, Texas-based Community Credit Union announced that Netkey software has been chosen to power a network of 29 CCU self-service banking kiosks at branch locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Credit union customers will be able to research and apply for products and services, and access any online functions, including non-cash transactions, loan applications, fund transfers, statements, and check imaging. CCU has more than 170,000 customers, according to the company.
