Netkey launches new software package

February 17, 2002

NEW YORK - Kiosk software developer Netkey Inc., seeking new ways to aid retailers in their kiosk and Web development needs, on Jan. 14 unveiled its Netkey 6 enterprise-level software package at the National Retail Federation's (NRF) annual show in New York.

Netkey 6 features what company officials said was an innovative platform for retail developers. The package allows retailers the flexibility to create one application for Web sites and in-store kiosk deployments, with a unique interface for each application. Software does not need to be altered to cross applications using Netkey 6.

Netkey chief executive officer Alex Richardson said retailers can cut development costs and create a consistent customer message using the new platform.

"Self-service is rapidly evolving from a niche application to a true enterprise solution that touches many parts of a business," Richardson said in a news release. "Retailers today need a flexible, scalable self-service solution that can be used enterprise wide, both in store and on the Web, and delivers on the promise of multi-channel merchandising."

Netkey 6 builds on past Netkey systems; the first generation customized Web sites for in-store kiosks, while the next system added network and content management to the system.

Netkey's new system was launched at IBM Corp.'s booth at the NRF show, which continues on Jan. 15.
