BRANFORD, Conn. - Kiosk software maker Netkey has made some personnel changes in order to bolster its operations.
The privately-held Branford company laid off some employees two months ago, according to Penny Crump, Netkey's communications manager. She said the firm recently hired eight new employees.
Crump told KIOSKmarketplace that the employee changes were motivated by a restructuring initiated by upper management and the board of directors. She said that Netkey earlier layoffs were in support staff and redundant positions. The new hires include sales, software development, project management and graphic design staff.
According to Crump, the sales staff was reorganized to be responsible for geographic areas, rather than specific vertical markets. With the reorganization, Crump said the company's sales staff will communicate more effectively with its customers.
"Sales engineers will bridge the gap between the branding people and the IT folks," she said.
Netkey makes Manager, a remote management product, and Creator, used for designing kiosk applications.
In February, Netkey raised $9.5 million from venture capital firms.
Netkey has created applications for Borders Bookstores, Fidelity Bank and many others.
