DENVER - A postal service kiosk that would offer customers postage with the touch of a screen was among the products showcase by Neopost Inc. during the National Postal Forum, which wraps up Oct. 17 in Denver.
With Neopost's Simply Postage kiosk, customers can use a touchscreen to select the quantity of postage needed. Once the user swipes a credit or debit card through the system, the postage is printed out.
According to Neopost, the kiosk is designed to ease the burden of office mailrooms by removing stamp management from the mix. The service would also allow employees the chance to access postage around the clock.
Neopost received permission from the U.S. Postal Service to test the product in March (See story: Postage kiosks ready for testing). Neopost's Simply Postage software was integrated with Northrop Grumman Corp. kiosks to create the system.
The kiosk is one of two products in the Simply Postage line. The other product, Simply Postage PROmail, allows users to download and print postage using a modem and an electronic scale for weighing packages.
