Nebraska town mulls kiosk for tornado victims

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The South Locust Tornado Memorial Park will be located along South Locust Street between the Holiday Inn and the Super 8 Motel. The park will honor five people killed in 1980 tornadoes and commemorate the city's major rebuilding project.

According to a news report in The Independent,the South Locust Business Improvement District earmarked $25,000 in its 2003-04 budget to establish the park, but received additional shows of support.

One idea for the park is to display in a kiosk video compiled from television storm footage to show the enormity of the destruction, said Carolyn Lilyhorn from Red Cross' Central Plains Chapter headquartered in Grand Island.
