A traveling educational kiosk about the importance of rangelands has been deployed in Nebraska as part of the United Nations' designation of 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. Developed through a collaboration among states in the Central and Western U.S. and led by Washington State University, the interactive display is designed to educate the public about what rangelands are and their significance locally and globally. The kiosk is showcased at the Nebraska State Capitol until Feb. 20 and at Morrill Hall at the University of Nebraska State Museum through May 1, according to a KOLN-KGIN report, providing accessible, public-facing information in high-traffic locations.

The display also highlights broader environmental benefits, including wildlife habitat and groundwater recharge. Organizers hope the kiosk will increase public awareness and appreciation of rangelands while encouraging engagement with conservation and land management issues.
