OAKLAND, Calif. - NCR Corp. (NYSE:NCR) and music solutions company Savage Beast Technologies Inc. believe music fans will heed the call of the kiosk when it comes to finding new music. The two companies on Nov. 14 announced plans to develop a kiosk solution for music retailers.
The kiosk will offer music fans a shopping and search environment. The kiosk will feature personalized music navigation and recommendations. The system will also take advantage of technology developed by Savage Beast through its music genome project. Customers can identify certain traits of a song that they enjoyed, and the kiosk will respond by recommending other songs that match those traits.
"Brick and mortal retailers have been asking us about kiosks for over a year, and we're now in a position to leverage the best technologies to create an integrated solution and a scalable business," Lou Bramy, Savage Beast senior vice president of business development and music enterprise, said in a news release.
Savage Beast did not disclose any retailers who have signed on for the project or when the first unit is expected to roll out.
