NCR debut self-service devices

February 27, 2002

DAYTON, Ohio - Seeking to make convenient stores even more convenient, business and technology machines manufacturer NCR Corp. (NYSE:NCR) has unveiled a new line of self-service kiosks.

The Xpress Payment Kiosk is designed for convenient stores as a way of enhancing services without hiring additional staff, company officials said. The kiosk allows consumers to pay bills, accept payments and access account information from one location. The machine can accept cash, checks and credit.

"Our success in providing custom bill payment kiosks for the telecommunications industry clearly shows that consumers - especially those who normally pay with cash - want and use this type of device," Nelson Gomez, NCR Web kiosk general manager, said in a news release.

In other NCR news, a company subsidiary, Compris Technologies Inc., debuted a software program that would allow customers to order food from a variety of devices on Oct. 19.

The Comprise Order Entry Application allows restaurant patrons to order food and beverages from self-service kiosks, Web-enabled phones, hand-held devices and home delivery call centers.
