NCR cashing in with English banking house

August 5, 2002

LONDON -- English financial services supplier Alliance & Leicester, seeking customer convenience in a relaxed setting, has installed a set of NCR Corp.'s (NYSE:NCR) EasyPoint 45 kiosks at its new branch location in Tunbridge Wells, England.

The kiosks offer online banking and information about Alliance & Leicester services. The line also includes access to Alliance & Leicester partners movingimproving.com and smartermotoring.com, so customers can access home- and car-purchasing information.

"NCR's EasyPoint kiosks have allowed Alliance & Leicester to open up our online banking and Web services to all our customers, and not limit these services to those fortunate enough to have a PC," Tim Neal, Alliance & Leicester retail design manager, said in a news release.

The kiosks are part of a state-of-the-art facilities design package created by Alliance & Leicester. The new branch also includes seating areas and play areas for kids. Bank officials said the new design makes the bank experience less formal and provides customers with more points of service throughout the branch.

A provider of financial services to personal, small business, and corporate customers, Alliance & Leicester has 6 million customers and 550,000 mortgage borrowers, according to bank officials.
