DAYTON, Ohio and LAKE MARY, Fla. - NCR has announced its purhcase of Kinetics, a privately-held company based in Lake Mary, Fla., that provides self-service solutions for the travel industry. Kinetics provides airline self-check-in, hotel self-check-in/check-out, quick-serve restaurant pre-order and self-service ticketing support and services.
According to a news release, NCR paid 26 million for the acquisition, which covers the Kinetics' systems, software and services. Kinetics will now operate as a subsidiary of NCR, and its employees will continue to work with Kinetics, the release also noted.
"Kinetics' expertise, software platform and systems are strategic additions to our self-service portfolio, enabling us to further extend our market reach and leadership to additional segments, like airline and hotel check-in, quick-service food ordering and event ticketing," said Lee Schram, senior vice president of NCR's Retail Solutions Division.
According to the release, NCR's 2004 earnings will not be impacted by the acquisition.
NCR, a global technology company that provides ATMs, retail systems, Teradata, data warehouses and IT services, employs approximately 29,000 people.
