National parks kiosks attract buyer

HOUSTON - Operating kiosks in the Grand Canyon and other national parks led Affordable Telecommunications Technology Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: ATTP) to acquire Kiosk Web Access, a Sedona, Ariz.-based kiosk operator.

Affordable signed a letter of intent to acquire the privately-held company, which holds a contract with AMFAC Parks and Resources to provide kiosks in national parks and hotels in Arizona and Utah.

Steve Bethke, president and CEO of Affordable, said in a company news release that the acquisition with allow his four-year-old firm, which operates retail stores selling wireless telecommunications products in Texas and Louisiana, to diversify its revenues through advertising and marketing programs on kiosk screens in the parks. It will also add a new sales channel for the company's wireless products.

Kiosk Web Access, formed a year ago, installed kiosks in 16 locations in its first year, including Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore parks. Installations are planned for three additional locations. The kiosks, manufactured by Info Touch, accept cash and credit card payments and allow customers to send photos of themselves to other through the Internet.
