National Institutes of Health issues RFP for intelligent vending for its supply chain

March 27, 2017

The National Institutes of Health has released a request for proposal to test an intelligent vending machine to deliver "fast moving products" to its labs faster while improving supply management, according to Bloomberg Government.

A request for proposal released Mar. 10 seeks a small business to provide intelligent vending machines and inventory management software to oversee the NIH supply chain. Market research was conducted last December.

The scope of work for the 5-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract includes state-of-the-art modular equipment that can accommodate about 30 to 60 products and communicate with the existing NIH interface, according to the statement of work.

Proposals are due Mar. 29 and should be submitted to Robert Burdette at robert.burdette@nih.gov. Ordering for the contract is planned for Apr. 15.
