The city of Nashville, Tennessee, has deployed two self-service kiosks that renew or replace driver's licenses or state identification cards. The kiosks are designed with facial recognition technology to identify users, according to a report by WKRN.
The kiosk will take a photo of the user and then use facial recognition technology to match the photo with one on record. It will then print a temporary license or ID card, which is valid for 20 days. Driver Services will then mail the user a regular license or ID card, according to the report.
"We appreciate the city of Nashville providing us this opportunity to better serve the citizens of Tennessee," Lori Bullard, assistant commissioner of Driver Services Division said in the report. "This will help cut wait times at Driver Services Centers, while delivering quick and easy service."
