Nanonation launches Nanopoint E3 software for digital merchandising

January 12, 2005

LINCOLN, Neb - Nanonation introduced Nanopoint E3, a new evolution to its industry-leading digital merchandising and self-service software platform. Nanopoint E3 is designed to run on Apple's new Mac mini hardware platform, recently unveiled at MacWorld San Francisco, according to a news release.

Nanopoint E3 is an enterprise-class client/sever software platform that allows users to create, deploy and manage customer interactions across a variety of applications and vertical markets.

Apple's new Mac mini is designed to integrate with a variety of display technologies, from plasma to LCD to DLP projection systems and touch screens, and features a palm-sized form factor and a price point below $500.

By combining Nanonation's software with Apple's Mac mini computer hardware, businesses will now be able to deploy self-service and digital merchandizing solutions at a fraction of the cost in a variety of retail and public space environments.

Speaking after the introduction of the Mac mini at MacWorld, Bradley Walker, CEO of Nanonation, explained, "This product offering really revolutionizes the interactive and digital signage market. Previously, processing units cost $1,000 and up for systems that only supported the most basic features - MPEG2 playback, simple graphics and text crawlers. Now you can achieve much more for much less. Starting at $500, you have a platform that will support real-time data, full HD content and dynamic compositing of graphics and targeted messaging at each location. Coupled with our software and management tools, there is now a complete enterprise solution for customer-facing applications at an incredible price point and with limitless capabilities."

Nanopoint E3 is also designed and optimized for Apple's newest Mac OS X technologies including its next update, named "Tiger," and QuickTime 7, scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2005 according to Apple. The combined technologies bring a new set of tools to digital signage and interactive kiosks, combining advanced graphics and digital media capabilities with innovative technologies such HD Graphics and RFID.

With Tiger and Nanopoint E3, many of the effects that used to require time spent in media authoring tools to produce each image can be done once and applied to images at run time. These solutions provide the ability to re-purpose media content without rendering, and facilitate real-time content updates across the network.
