SEATTLE - An interactive kiosk chronicling the history of recorded sound and exhibited at the Experience Music Project in Seattle has been named one of 43 winners in this year's Interactive Design Annual 7 awards handed out by Communication Arts magazine.
The kiosk, "Inventions & Inspirations: The History of Recorded Sound", was designed by Portland, Ore.-based Second Story Interactive Studios, which received the interactive award. The project was launched in August 2000 and is one of three kiosks Second Story designed for the Experience Music Project.
Inventions & Inspirations chronicles the history of recorded sound, from Thomas Edison to the current day. The kiosk features innovators in the industry along with modules that demonstrate sounds and how they are recorded.
In citing the kiosk, Communications Arts editors said the project was well organized and had an ingenious timeline.
