Moscow Transport expands biometric payment for air rail transport

Passengers on Moscow Aeroexpress airport rail lines will be able to pay fares using biometrics, according to a press release.

Face Pay, the biometric acceptance service, has been deployed at certain turnstiles in the Aeroexpress terminals at Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports following its installation at the Sheremetyevo airport.

More than 320,000 users have registered in the system and have made more than 60 million rides.

"We expect that by the end of the year about 500,000 people will use it," Maksim Liksutov, the deputy mayor of Moscow for Transport, said in the press release.

The trains will continue to accept other types of payment.

Users who already uses biometric payments in the Metro and the Moscow Central Circle will be able to use the biometric service in Aeroexpress terminals without additional registration.

The service is available only for trips in standard class.
