The Moscow Metro is testing a "Faster Payments" technology that allows payment by smartphone at five stations of the Big Circle Line, which fully launched on March 1, according to a press release. The service features a QR scanner at the turnstile. It has launched in pilot mode at the following stations: Delovoy Tsentr, Kuntsevskaya, Maryina Roscha, ProspektVernadskogo and CSKA.
At the moment, only testers can use the FPS to pay at turnstiles which are distinguished by a burning light. There are 290 passengers taking part in the tests.
All turnstiles of the Moscow Metro are already technically ready to accept a FSP payment.
The FPS is a Russian technology owned by the Bank of Russia.
