Moscow Transport has launched its Face Pay biometric fare payment system at all 31 stations of the Moscow Central Circle, the surface railway circle line, according to a press release. The previously announced technology has been installed at a total of 85 turnstiles.
Passengers can pay using the Moscow Metro mobile app available at Google Play and the App Store.
"We see that the demand for the service is growing and we will definitely increase the number of turnstiles with biometric payment. The face recognition fare payment system operates at 281 Moscow Metro stations and the MCC," Maksim Liksutov, deputy mayor of Moscow Transport, said in the press release.
More than 190,000 users have already registered in the Face Pay system, with over 33 million rides made.
