The Moscow Metro will expand its biometric payment service as 330 more turnstiles will be connected to the Face Pay system starting January 2023, according to a press release.
The new turnstiles accept bank cards and have a QR code payment reader.
The screens show the status of the ticket, including the remaining balance, number of trips and days before expiration. The turnstiles also feature bright color backlighting and large letters on the screens.
Biometrics is used by more than 220,000 turnstile users, who have made more than 43 million rides, Maksim Liksutov, deputy mayor of Moscow for Transport, said in the press release.
In addition, Moscow Metro modernized all 249 turnstiles of the Moscow Central Circle, an on-surface line.
