MontegoNet acquires CartenTech

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- MontegoNet has completed its acquisition of CartenTech, a developer of self-service Internet Webphones and kiosk software.

Under the terms of the deal, MontegoNet will assume all CartenTech assets and retain CartenTech staff, according to a news release.

The deal comes at a time of growth, and accelerated research and development at MontegoNet. "We've been in `stealth mode' for the past year, developing new products and services that will help our customers generate true ROI for their self-service deployments," said MontegoNet President Thomas Smith.

"This strategic acquisition will further enhance and accelerate our current plans, along with maintaining MontegoNet's ability to provide our customers with a complete range of full-service kiosk solutions."

Said Mark Carten, president of Carten Technologies, who will also join the MontegoNet team, "For existing Carten Technologies customers, this deal only enhances the high level of support and expertise that they have come to expect. It's a win-win situation all around."

MontegoNet plans to unveil its new kiosk products and services at the KioskCom 2004 trade show April 26-28 in Las Vegas. During the show, MontegoNet will demonstrate a new platform-independent kiosk service that will integrate with leading kiosk software products, the release said.

MontegoNet's clients include BankRI, District of Columbia, Fidelity Investments, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Raytheon, State of Illinois, U.S. Air Force and The Washington Redskins.
