MoneyGram is working with the Canada Post to distribute $1.6 million in funds from the Canadian government. MoneyGram will provide more than 1,700 money transfer checks for pick-up at Canada Post locations.

"Our hearts go out to those impacted by these terrible fires," said Pete Ohser, MoneyGram executive vice president for Americas and Europe. "With the help of the Red Cross and Canada Post, we are focused on ensuring financial assistance gets to those who need it most during this crucial time. I'd also like to say 'thank you' to each and every first responder who continues to fight these fires by putting themselves in harm's way; their courage and determination are inspiring."

In order to waive fees, users must enter the code 2540 when donating to the Red Cross at any MoneyGram kiosk.
