MoneyGram to assist with book delivery to Jamaican children

July 26, 2016

Money transfer company MoneyGram has teamed up with nonprofit First Book to send more than 10,000 new books to Jamaican children as part of the Child Resiliency Program. MoneyGram allows users to transfer money from a kiosk or retail location, according to a press release.

MoneyGram donated $15,000 as a grant to purchase the books from the First Book Global Marketplace and the First Book National Book Bank. These two organizations provide books for schools, programs and children in need.

"Education is essential to economic growth and development as it offers children the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to transform their lives," Lisa Rostov, senior director for marketing in Latin America and the Caribbean said in the release. "The MoneyGram Foundation is proud to be part of this donation event and we are excited to work with First Book and the Child Resiliency Program in Jamaica to fulfill MoneyGram's commitment to support programs that reach those communities in need of educational resources and access to a basic education."
