Mobile device manufacturers agree to standardize software

April 25, 2010

The Washington Post reportsthat Sharp, Panasonic, Fujitsu and NEC will use a standard software platform for future mobile devices.

The move is expected to cut production costs for new mobile devices by 50 percent, according to the report.

As the interactivity increases between mobile devices and personalized advertising, self-service installations and personalized kiosk applications, the standardization could allow system deployers to more easily implement new tools and concepts.
