Mississippi city to install bill-payment kiosk

The Meridian City Hall in Meridian, Mississippi, plans to reduce lines by installing a bill-payment kiosk.

August 5, 2015

The Meridian (Mississippi) City Hall plans to reduce lines by installing a bill-payment kiosk, according to a report by ABC 11. City officials are advertising this plan with a sign just outside City Hall's Finance and Records office that announces, "No one likes to wait in line, no matter the reason."

Currently, the council experiences long waits, especially during the first and third days of the month and with only one full time cashier on staff, it can be difficult to keep up.

"You and I all know that if there is a long line we are going to look [for] any way around that long line and that kiosk might just do the trick," said City Council President and Ward 5 Councilman Randy Hammon in an interview with ABC 11.

The kiosk is currently slated for deployment next month.
